Matthias Herbert is a Computer Scientist who brings more than 20 years of experience spanning software engineering, agile leadership, and AI transformation. Having worked with leading organizations such as IBM, Bosch, Fraunhofer, BMW and Ecosia, he combines corporate expertise with entrepreneurial drive.
He has led distributed development teams and large-scale transformation projects across industries, combining technical vision with hands-on leadership. As founder and contributor to five startups, Matthias focuses on the intersection of AI, sustainability, and innovation, developing technologies that promote digital responsibility and measurable impact.
As Managing Consultant and Partner of Obvious Works, he leads the AI Bootcamp for Development Teams, enabling software engineers to adopt an "AI-first" mindset and utilize AI tools for agentic, purpose-driven development. He delivers training for CPRE Foundation Level, the AI4RE micro-credential, and advanced courses in AI-enabled software development. As certified CPRE trainer, he specializes in AI-assisted Requirements Engineering and agile product management.
Matthias is active in the IREB Special Interest Group AI, Swiss AI, and regularly speaks at REConf and BA Days, as well as at academic institutions like the ZHAW School of Management and Law.
