IREB – our story

From a shared vision, IREB has grown from being a group of dedicated experts to become a globally respected authority in Requirements Engineering (RE). With each step, we have set standards and united the global RE community. Our story shows what is possible when passion and expertise come together—and it inspires us to actively shape the future of digital transformation.

The organization of IREB

IREB e.V.

IREB e.V. is the origin and core of IREB. All components and contents of the certification programs are developed here. The association is made up of the Executive Board, Council, and members. In working groups, the members develop the specific content for the IREB certification programs. The Executive Board and the Council manage the association and determine its direction. IREB GmbH was founded to bundle all administrative activities, coordinate the working groups, and organize marketing activities.

IREB GmbH

IREB GmbH was established to centralize all administrative activities and effectively coordinate the working groups. It also plays a key role in the organization of marketing activities and the expansion of our global communities. Despite its extensive activities, the GmbH, like the association, does not aim to make a profit. Its management works closely with the Executive Board of the association to realize IREB's common goals and expand its international reach.

IREB Local Communities

The local IREB communities play a crucial role in promoting awareness of RE and DD and in spreading the CPRE and DDP certification models in local markets and regions. Through local events and activities, both the products and the extensive knowledge of IREB are made accessible and the reach within the local markets is significantly expanded.

The structure of IREB: Clear, transparent, and targeted

The structure of IREB is based on two central organizational units: the association (IREB e.V.) and IREB GmbH. The association consists of full and associate members and is managed by two boards. IREB GmbH, which is wholly owned by the association, is responsible for operations and reports directly to the association's Executive Board.
